Due to the high requirements for the accuracy of manufacturing and processing of injection molds and the relatively complex production and processing technology, the processing and production costs of injection molds for general plastics are relatively high. Plastic mold manufacturers all hope that the service life of the mold is longer, and the requirements for the use, maintenance and maintenance of the mold are higher, so as to maintain the working accuracy and extend the service life. The reasonable choice of injection mold materials is also an important condition for extending the service life of the mold. The materials used in the manufacture of injection molds must meet the following requirements:

1. The injection mold steel should have good processing performance, and the deformation should be small when working in high temperature environment and heat treatment.

2. The working surface of the molten material flow channel in the mold cavity should have a small negative force of the material flow, so the surface roughness value of the working surface should be reduced, and the steel should have good polishing performance, no impurities and no pores in the material.

3. Excellent wear resistance. In order to maintain the dimensional accuracy of the mold structure for a long time, it is very necessary to wear the working surface of the mold after molding. In particular, when the raw material for processing molded products contains glass fiber hard fillers, it is very easy to accelerate the wear of the mold working surface. For such a mold, it must have sufficient hardness and wear resistance.

4. Steel has good corrosion resistance. In the production process of plastic melt molding, plastic raw materials and some auxiliary materials should be in contact with steel materials, which have a certain chemical corrosion effect on steel materials. In order to maintain good corrosion resistance of the mold, it is necessary to select corrosion-resistant alloy steel or high-quality carbon steel, and the surface should also be chrome-plated or nickel-plated if necessary.

5. The steel should have sufficient working strength. In addition to a certain hardness after surface heat treatment, the selected steel should also have sufficient core strength, because the injection mold is subjected to a large injection pressure and clamping force during the operation, so the core of the steel for the injection mold must be considered strength.
